Telemedicine

Telemedicine lets employees talk to a doctor anytime, usually for free! Effectively saving the employer's health plan money and giving employees the ability to get quick, convenient care. There doesn’t have to be any copays, there are no insurance claims to file and no hidden costs.

How Telemedicine Works

Telemedicine provides on-demand, 24/7 access to licensed physicians through phone, video, and mobile app options. Plan members can immediately consult with a network of U.S.-based, state-licensed doctors for common, non-emergency medical conditions.

Employees and their families can connect to these doctors anytime, anywhere – even while traveling or from the comfort of home – within minutes. When appropriate and allowed by state law, certain medications can be prescribed or refilled without a doctor's office visit required.

Perks of Telemedicine

Your employees and their families receive the telemedicine benefit just by being a member of your health plan. About 70% of doctor visits are for information only or other matters easily handled over the phone. Telemedicine can save the plan money and the plan member's time. It offers many other perks, including:

  • Convenient, easy access to licensed doctors;
  • Free access to information and advice on non-emergency medical issues;
  • Easily scheduled virtual doctor visits after-hours, and on weekends or holidays;
  • Reduces absenteeism and employees can save their paid time off for other needs;
  • Provides a convenient way to access care while traveling;
  • Offers quality care at no additional cost to the employee; and,
  • Reduces ER and urgent care utilization.

Telemedicine is faster and far less expensive than seeing a primary care physician or going to the ER or an urgent care center. However, it shouldn't replace a primary care physician entirely, so employees with a medical emergency should still call 9-1-1 or visit their nearest ER for medical attention.
